The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an armed suspect following a deputy-involved shooting on Wednesday.

The manhunt is underway in the area of Jones Road and Barry Street in Powell.

"This search is in response to an attempted warrant arrest that resulted in a deputy-involved shooting," the sheriff's office stated. "The suspect, identified as Gary Jody Childers, was last seen fleeing through a large patch of woods. Childers was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans."

The sheriff's office does not believe anyone was injured in the shooting.
