UF Alert issued for a water pistol mistaken for a gun

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The University of Florida Safety System put out an alert on Thursday morning regarding a man suspected of carrying a gun at Little Hall.

After UFPD officers arrived, the man in question called, believing he met the description of the suspected gunman.

However, he was dressed as a science fiction character for Halloween and was carrying a water pistol, not a deadly weapon.

Officers say the individual did not intend to cause harm or pose a threat.
