With the federal government shutdown ongoing and no Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funding coming to the states for November, the 119,000 Delawareans on food stamps are wondering where they'll get their meals.
Gov. Matt Meyer declared a state of emergency to fund the benefits, but they may not be accessible to Delawareans by Nov. 1.
There are many ways to access free food in The First State. The first line of defense against hunger is Delaware 211, which connects those in need with resources. You can call 211, text your ZIP code to 898-211 or visit delaware211.org , and they'll tell you where you can find food pantries near you.
