The National Weather Service released a wind advisory at 12:02 p.m. on Thursday valid from Friday 11 a.m. until Saturday 5 a.m. for Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, Broome, Delaware and Sullivan counties.
The weather service comments, "West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph expected."
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," adds the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
