COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — Body camera footage from a Cottonwood Police Department officer showed the moment a loose emu was caught on Tuesday.
Police say they received multiple 911 calls about an "unusual suspect," an emu sprinting through the streets and into traffic.
"Our dispatch started getting calls there was an emu walking through the parking lot of our Walmart here in town and trying to attack people," said Officer Kellen Burnes.
Burnes was one of the Cottonwood police officers who responded to the chase. He said calls kept coming in for the emu, whom they later learned was named Frank. One caller even mistook the 60-pound flightless bird was a baby giraffe. Police then spent some time trying to track Frank down.
