LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen said he is "highly confident" in the direction that the Husker football program is heading.

"I'm highly confident where the program's going to go from here. But we aren't there yet," Dannen said. "And we talk about the investments that we're making from our recruitment and retention standpoint. ... We've made a lot of investments in the last 18 months in staff. We're not done there."

Dannen discussed Matt Rhule's progress and contract extension after the head coach's regularly-scheduled press conference Thursday.
