A Cambridge drunk driver who was swerving between lanes and slapping herself to stay awake is lucky she didn’t kill someone, a judge said.
The woman, 59, pleaded guilty Wednesday to her second drunk driving charge in six years.
Her actions in June 2024 reminded Justice John Lynch of a case he handled a few months back where a young man killed another driver in a drunken crash.
“The facts really aren’t any different than what we’re dealing with here,” Lynch told the woman. “Getting impaired, getting control of a motor vehicle out on the roadway, swerving.”
“That’s exactly what happened in his case — he swerved, driving a truck right into an SUV and the SUV driver died on the scene,” the judge said.
