ADDISON, Texas — The new owner of a home purchased at auction found the body of a deceased elderly woman inside the house, officials said.

The body of an elderly woman was found Wednesday, Oct. 29 at a house in the 17000 block of Planters Row in Addison, the Addison Police Department said in a press release.

The man who purchased the home during a property auction entered the home, noticed a strong smell and immediately left to call the police, officials said.

Police found the body of an elderly woman inside the home, the release states. The body appeared to have been deceased for some time, police said.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body to determine the cause of death.

According to police, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
