On Thursday at 3:35 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated coastal flood warning in effect until 10 p.m. for Ocean County.
"Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways," can be expected according to the weather service. "The Coastal Flood Warning is confined to the back bays of Barnegat Bay with this evening's high tide cycle."
"At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible," adds the weather service. "A Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal flooding is occurring or imminent.
