CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Cincinnati Convention Center will reopen in January after an 18-month, $265 million renovation that city leaders describe as a complete reinvention of the downtown facility.

The convention center at Fifth and Elm streets shut down for the extensive project, which includes the addition of Elm Street Plaza featuring a dog park for visitors and residents.

“When you think of a renovation, you think of just cosmetic things... paint, carpet, walls,” said Julie Calvert, president and CEO of Visit Cincy. “This is a complete taking the center down to the ground and building it from the ground up. This is a whole new convention center behind us.”
