AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A “violent domestic abuser and career felon” was convicted this week of beating, kidnapping and shooting his romantic partner, District Attorney Jared Williams said Thursday.

Jameel Thompson, 45, was on trial for the March 16, 2021, beating and Aug. 8, 2022, kidnapping and shooting of his partner.

In the 2021 attack, he broke the orbital bone aound her eye, requiring a hospital visit.

Teen arrested in Butler Manor Drive shooting that injured 2

A teen has been arrested in connection to a shooting that injured two people on Butler Manor Drive earlier this week.

In 2022, he dragged her into a house, beat her throughout the residence and then shot her in the shoulder, shattering her clavicle, according to Williams.

He stayed on the run until January 2023.
