JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - The Trump administration promised to go after the worst of the worst when it came to rounding up criminal undocumented immigrants, but that promise has led to a different reality in communities across the country.
In Jeffersonville, the arrest of one man for driving without a license has left his wife and kids, all U.S. citizens, at risk of losing their home.
Hugo Ortiz has been sitting in the Clark County jail since June.
His conviction for driving without ever having a license earned him a one-day jail sentence, but the federal government won’t let Hugo go home.
Rachel Ortiz hasn’t visited the Vissing Park playground in months.
“I haven’t been here in a while because of it. I don’t come to parks. I don’t do stuff like that because it makes me sad,” said
