TORONTO — Arcade Fire’s husband-and-wife team say they’re hanging up their marriage, but not their ties to the band.

Montreal indie rockers Win Butler and Régine Chassagne announced on social media that they have decided to separate.

They say their “bond as creative soulmates will endure, as will Arcade Fire.”

Butler and Chassagne met at McGill University, as the band was forming, and the couple married in 2003.

Arcade Fire burst into the mainstream when “The Suburbs” won album of the year at the Grammy Awards in 2011.

Three years ago music publication Pitchfork ran a story in which four people accused Butler of inappropriate sexual interactions that included unwelcome advances.
