Greater Manchester's mental health service 'missed opportunities' to provide further support to a young woman who tragically took her own life, a coroner has ruled.

Emily Whittaker was not given 'additional assessment, treatment and care' after she was discharged from a mental health ward, known as 'the unit', in January 2024 and another time when her GP referred her to a community based mental health service three months before she passed away.

Emily Whittaker, from Salford , was only 21 when her body was found at a canal close to Hanover Street North in Audenshaw, Tameside on July 20, 2024.
