ANNA — Before they ever step into a classroom, write an essay or complete a worksheet, having reliable access to a healthy meal is a vital part of a child's education.
Anna District 37 is preparing for a world where students' food security at home may be threatened by adding a new food pantry. Around 30% of its 600 students are from families that receive SNAP benefits, a program that will not receive funding starting on Saturday due to the shutdown of the federal government.
