AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The City of Amarillo will receive $20 million to help design and plan for the future of the Hollywood wastewater treatment plant.

The Legislature included $20 million in direct funding for the City of Amarillo toward the Hollywood Road wastewater plant in the last legislative session.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, the city approved a resolution to obtain the funding from the Texas Water Development Board, which will administer it.

“Very exciting news for Amarillo and the citizens because the beneficiary of that is the citizens that pay a sewer bill,” said Floyd Hartman, special adviser to the City of Amarillo. “It’s a direct reduction on their future costs.”
