Little Compton Town Council members last Thursday accepted the retirement notice of long-time town clerk Carol Wordell, who will retire at the end of the year.
Wordell, who held the clerk position since 1998, is expected to be succeeded by current Deputy Town Clerk Heather Cook.
Wordell received a standing ovation from those in attendance at Thursday's meeting.
Interim town administrator
As Wordell steps aside, Little Compton has hired an interim town administrator three months after the departure of Antonio Teixeira.
Little Compton resident Anya Rader Wallack, who works in the health management field and is a professor at Brown University, was unanimously appointed to the position by town council members Thursday evening.
