The Centre on Thursday said more than 2,790 Indian nationals living illegally in the United States have been sent back to India since January. During his weekly media briefing, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the figures while responding to a query.

“Since the beginning of this year, over 2,790 Indian nationals who did not meet the criteria and were residing in the US illegally have returned. Their credentials and nationality were verified before repatriation. These figures are updated till October 29,” Jaiswal said.

He was also asked about deportations from the United Kingdom. “From the UK, around 100 Indian nationals have been deported this year after their nationality was duly verified,” Jaiswal added.
