intoTUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - For people living with disabilities, getting a job in the workforce can be challenging.
One Tucson store is looking to change that by solely hiring people with disabilities.
“It’s very important that they have a purpose in life, and that means going to work, doing everyday things that you and I do,” said Assure Health Care Group CEO Rebecca Lopez.
Lopez started the non-profit, The Living Inspired Hive , to help people with disabilities learn life skills and get work experience, but she said the help they need can be hard to come by for many employers.
“We just didn’t have a lot of opportunities in the community to have them placed for employment,” Lopez said.
She said many of the participants in the program are looking for acceptance.
