LAKE CRYSTAL — A 23-year-old Fairfax man was arrested in Lake Crystal Wednesday after leading law enforcement on a 10-mile chase that at times topped 160 mph, according to Blue Earth County Sheriff’s officials.
“It all happened in a matter of minutes. There was almost no traffic on the highway at the time,” said Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office Captain Paul Barta.
A Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a motorcycle traveling at 90 mph on State Highway 60 west of Lake Crystal, near Country Road 119 at 9:48 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office. The motorcycle accelerated, leading the deputy on a pursuit at speeds up to 160 mph.
David James Ruter lost control of the motorcycle in a grassy median while trying to make a U-turn during the pursuit, according to the sheriff’s report.
