The Canadian Union of Public Employees is calling on the Saskatchewan Health Authority to pause a new care model at Tatagwa View, saying it is denying residents the care that they deserve.
At a press conference held outside the facility Friday morning, union officials said changes to the Eden model implemented in the summer of 2024 have forced continuing care aides to take on duties they are not trained for.
"In principle, the Eden model should create a home-like experience, but in reality, it is running staff off their feet," said Arlene Pickard, general vice president for CUPE 5430.
