Northern California is being spoiled by late October sunshine and warm temperatures, but a big change is expected next week.

A weather system with atmospheric river moisture has the potential to bring widespread rain, high elevation snow and breezy conditions to the region on Wednesday, Nov. 5, with showers lingering into Thursday.

As of Friday morning, forecast models show the potential for a half inch to an inch of rain in the Valley, with double those numbers in the Foothills. Previous model runs have been consistently showing the best rainfall for Wednesday. So, the KCRA weather team has made Nov. 5 an Impact Day because of how the rain could affect travel and outdoor activities.
