Though Arbor Day is typically recognized in April in most places, in conjunction with Earth Day, the city of Chandler leverages the fall weather as the appropriate time to introduce new plants into the desert landscape.
Chandler’s Celebration of Arbor Day recognizes the benefits of trees and invites the community to learn how they can make an impact on Chandler’s urban forest.
This Saturday, Nov. 1 event includes tree planting demonstrations, interactive tree climbing demonstrations, vendors and activities for all ages, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Chandler residents can take home a complimentary five-gallon native tree to plant in their yards -- with valid identification -- while supplies last.
The event is at Tumbleweed Park's McDowell Mountain Pavilion, 2250 S. McQueen Road in south Chand
