The Hanover Police Service are reminding members of the public to use electric scooters, electric bicycles and mobility scooters safely and responsibly.
In recent months, officers have observed a significant increase in the use of personal electric transport devices. These vehicles provide a convenient and environmentally friendly way to travel, but they also come with legal responsibilities and safety considerations.
Electric scooters
Only approved e-scooters may be used on public roads where local laws allow.
Riders must follow the same road rules as cyclists, including obeying traffic lights and signs.
Riders must be at least 16 years of age and anyone under 18 years of age is required to wear an approved bicycle helmet at a minimum.
E-scooters are designed for a single rider only
