MENTOR, Ohio — Mentor school board president Maggie Cook formally responded Thursday to Sen. Bernie Moreno’s false claims that a student charged in a pornography case had been allowed back in school.
The 15-year-old at the center of the controversy was arrested Oct. 17 by Mentor police on 36 felony counts of pandering sexually oriented material and obscenity involving a minor or impaired person. Court records show he was released from the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center on bond Oct. 21 under conditions that bar contact with alleged victims, prohibit social media use and restrict unsupervised access to electronic devices.
