Unsponsored refugee claimants who arrive in Windsor may have a more difficult time if Matthew House is unable to raise enough money to provide the services to help them, warns the head of the agency.

Matthew House Refugee Welcome Centre provides temporary accommodations for unsponsored refugee claimants and helps them settle and join the community, but donations are down significantly so the agency is appealing to the community for financial aid, executive director Mike Morency said Thursday.

“We are looking for financial support from the community. People who would be open to making a one-time donation or joining us as a monthly donor; (or) if they already are a monthly donor, possibly increasing the amount,” he told the Star.
