Shillong, Oct 31: The Meghalaya government has launched ‘Mission Clean Shillong 2027’ that outlines a roadmap to make the capital city clean and litter-free.
The mission focuses on creating litter-free localities, achieving 100 per cent waste processing, removing legacy waste from the Marten landfill and introducing tech-based monitoring systems. It also promotes citizen-led cleaning drives and accountability to strengthen civic participation.
The launch was held during a consultative meeting with rangbah shnongs and locality leaders today at the State Convention Centre hosted by the Department of Urban Affairs to garner community participation and coordination between local bodies and traditional institutions in implementing the mission.
