BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - A substance abuse recovery organization is seeking permission from the Town of Bedford to bring an addiction recovery and behavioral health center to the town.
BeBold Recovery is seeking a zoning change and a conditional use permit to convert the memory care unit building at the Carriage Hill Retirement Center into a new addiction treatment center that it said the area desperately needs.
In part of a detailed statement to WDBJ7 outlining the project, BeBold Recovery said that Bedford County’s overdose death rate is 25% higher than the state average, and there is a major shortage of treatment beds and behavioral health staff there, with no state-licensed residential addiction recovery options in the immediate area.
