CENTRAL ILLINOIS ( 25News Now ) - Those with food allergies looking for allergy safe homes to visit for Halloween can consult the Teal Pumpkin Project map.
The map lists numerous homes and CVS locations in the tri-county area.
The project has people place a teal pumpkin, or free sign , at the front of the home, indicating to those passing by that non-food treats are available.
Some ideas for non-food items include glow sticks, markers, bubbles, Halloween erasers, stickers, and more.
The worldwide Teal Pumpkin Project promotes safety, inclusion and respect of people managing food allergies.
The project was inspired by a local awareness activity run by the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee.
