Donald Trump says Prime Minister Mark Carney apologized to him for the Ontario anti-tariff ad that offended the U.S. president and triggered his decision to cut off trade talks.
Asked by a reporter aboard Air Force One whether he would resume trade negotiations with Canada, Trump replied emphatically, “No.”
“But I have a very good relationship,” with Carney, he continued.
Trump suggested Carney acknowledged the Ronald Reagan ad commissioned by Premier Doug Ford was “false,” and three times said Carney apologized to him personally, apparently while they were in Asia.
