Video recordings from nearby home surveillance cameras appear to show someone igniting a fire, police say

Mounties suspect arson was the cause of a massive fire that destroyed three houses in the Conrich area.

Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, firefighters from Rocky View County and Chestermere responded to a fire in a home under construction in the 100 block of Trinity Road in the community just east of Calgary.

“The houses on either side were severely damaged and are likely to be full writeoffs,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz of Strathmore RCMP.

The residents of the two large, occupied homes were able to safely evacuate, but one person was injured in the blaze.
