With budget deliberations around the corner for Calgary’s new mayor and council, only 11 per cent of Calgary Police Service (CPS) employees feel they are adequately staffed, a survey revealed.

The Calgary police commission conducted the annual employee engagement survey over the summer, and while employee satisfaction trended upward in many categories, staffing levels were the lowest-rated measure.

Commission chair Amtul Siddiqui said that statistic is “quite shocking.”

“(That’s) something that we are very, very dedicated to working on,” she said, adding that the commission would work with CPS to ensure changes are made.
