COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Two federal judges are ordering the Trump Administration to replenish food aid benefits, saying the government is required to tap into billions of dollars in emergency funds to help pay for SNAP benefits.

The food assistance program is expected to lapse Friday after lawmakers did not reach a continuing resolution to fund the government. The government shutdown is now going on a month due to Republicans and Democrats not being able to compromise and pass the appropriate bills to fund the government.

The shutdown is impacting federal employees being paid, housing aid, and federal food assistance programs like SNAP, also known as food stamps.
