BOISE, Idaho — With Election Day just days away, the Nampa School District is asking voters to approve a replacement supplemental levy to help maintain classroom programs, staffing, and technology, without raising local taxes.

The district is proposing a $16.8 million annual levy for the next two years. Despite the large figure, Superintendent Greg Russell said homeowners will actually see their tax rate decrease if the measure passes.

“The state of Idaho has given the Nampa School District extra resources and money to be able to apply toward our supplemental levy,” Russell said. “So it’s actually going to be a decrease.”

That decrease is made possible by House Bill 292 , a state law that provides property tax relief funds to school districts, lessening their reliance on local levies
