TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County judge has convicted a Lyons man in the 2024 crash that killed two pedestrians outside a Sylvania concert venue.

Donald Christian was found guilty Tuesday of two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence following a bench trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

The crash occurred July 13, 2024, when Christian struck 78-year-old Donald Fern and 66-year-old Therese Fern as they crossed Centennial Road after a concert at Centennial Terrace. Both victims later died at a Lucas County hospital.

Christian was driving a Jeep Wrangler at the time of the crash, according to the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office. Officers at the scene noted the smell of alcohol, and a forensic toxicology expert estimated Christ
