A recent Mayo Clinic article by neurologist Nathan Seven shared research suggesting that listening to or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioral benefits for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

The column published Sept. 20 in The Journal Gazette is old news to two local musicians. Ron Rumbaugh and Joe Justice have been performing solo shows at area senior living communities for several years. They see the joy and smiles their performances bring to residents as they perform between two and five shows a week individually at area senior communities.
