CANONSBURG, Pa. — The developers of the Mountain Valley Pipeline are seeking federal approval for a new project that would significantly increase the system’s natural gas capacity as demand grows in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC recently applied to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for authorization to build the “MVP Boost” project, which would add compression at three existing compressor stations in West Virginia and construct a new station in Montgomery County, Virginia.
The upgrade is designed to boost capacity by 600,000 dekatherms per day, pushing total throughput to about 2.6 billion cubic feet per day.
The expansion comes shortly after the 303-mile pipeline entered service in June 2024 following years of legal challenges and construction dela
