CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The largest emergency food bank in West Virginia, the Mountaineer Food Bank, is seeking monetary support as the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will lapse on Nov. 1.

According to a press release by Mountaineer Food Bank, despite the organization delivering 18 million meals annually, every meal MFB provides is equivalent to nine meals provided by SNAP benefits.

Earlier this week Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced that his administration will match every dollar given to Mountaineer Food Bank up to $13 million.

But a group of Democrats in the West Virginia House Delegates pointed out that this amount will not be enough to support the state's need.
