New Delhi: The All India Football Federation got itself into an unbelievable position when it presented the I-League trophy to Inter Kashi on Saturday, six months after handing it Churchill Brothers at the same setting of Goa.
The AIFF had announced late on Friday to present the 2024-25 I-League trophy to Inter Kashi after their Super Cup match against Jamshedpur FC at GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.
However, clarification wasn’t given whether it would be the ‘original’ trophy that would be handed over, which was hurriedly presented to Churchill Brothers on April 27 (Sunday) in Goa, when they were provisional winners.
Kashi had spent around Rs 3.5 crore to win two lawsuits at Court of Arbitration for Sport to become the champions but Churchill refused to return the trophy, insistin
