MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Aspiring young musicians are invited to take the stage and audition for the Minot Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition.

The winner will get the chance to perform with the symphony at their February concert.

To even further their education, the winning student will also be awarded a $2,000 scholarship to be used in their first year towards a music degree at Minot State.

Executive Director Ellen Fenner said it’s open to high schoolers, and considers it a once in a lifetime opportunity.

She added that it’s a way to inspire people to do more.

“To be a high school student, to have the opportunity to do more--to play with the symphony and to be a featured soloist. It’s a big opportunity, and it’s such an honor for them to be able to play with the full symphony,
