NEW TOWN, N.D. (KMOT/KFYR) – The MHA Nation’s Emergency Operations Center said Sunday it’s coordinating the tribe’s response to food access issues created by the ongoing government shutdown.
The EOC posted on social media it has moved to Level 2 Activation, as of 1 p.m. Sunday.
The post indicates they will hold a briefing Monday at 9:30 a.m., and after that, will provide more information to the public on how they will handle the situation.
The EOC said their response will prioritize all households who receive and rely on SNAP benefits on the Fort Berthold Reservation, included off-reservation enrolled members.
The tribe also shared information on a food distribution event the morning of Nov. 10, at the former Jason’s Super Foods on Eagle Drive in New Town. At that event, the tribe said
