Quarterback Chris Streveler on Sunday confirmed what many suspected happened to him in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last game of the regular season.
“I re-tore my ACL,” Streveler told reporters as players cleared out their lockers. “I’m going to need to get surgery on that. Meniscus as well. I don’t even know if heartbreaking does it justice.”
Getting the start against Montreal while No. 1 passer Zach Collaros got a rest, Streveler tore the ligament making a cut. It’s the same knee he shredded midway through last season.
“I didn’t know right away, but I felt something happen,” he said. “I felt my knee pop, and I’ve felt that before. Just a heartbreaking moment. You just never envision that happening. It’s hard, too, when you know the road of recovery. I’ve been down that road before.”
