The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the North West of England as heavy rainfall continues to affect the region.

A rain warning has been put in place for Cumbria on Tuesday as further persistent, and at times heavy, rain is expected to continue into tomorrow.

It comes after a period of heavy rain on Sunday night and early Monday morning has caused many places to become very wet.

The Met Office says rainfall rates are expected to increase again from Monday evening through to late Tuesday morning - causing an increased chance of some flooding and transport disruption.
