KATWIJK, Netherlands — Eli Lilly will be building a new $3 billion manufacturing facility in Katwijk, Netherlands.
In an announcement Monday, Nov. 3, the Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical company said the new site will manufacture its weight-loss pill, orforglipron, and other oral medicines.
Lilly expects to submit orforglipron to "global regulatory agencies for obesity" by the end of this year, officials said.
The Netherlands site will be located on Leiden Bio Science Park.
"With extensive investments already underway in the U.S., our planned expansion in Europe further strengthens our ability to deliver medicines to patients worldwide. Localized manufacturing ensures we can quickly respond to meet regional demand and accelerate distribution within Europe," said David A. Ricks, Lilly
