DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- A man is facing charges after Durham Police say a little boy shot himself. Investigators say the shooting happened Sunday morning after the boy found a gun inside a home on Linwood Avenue.
The incident was reported at 10:40 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Linwood Avenue, near the intersection with Spaulding Street, according to a Durham Police Department news release.
Officers said a 4-year-old child was shot and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The boy suffered "injuries considered life-threatening," police said in the news release. Just before 8:30 p.m., the boy was in critical condition but stable, a Sunday night Durham police news release said.
