A man has tragically died after being thrown from a boat and left behind at a holiday resort in Puerto Banus, near Marbella. The incident occurred around midday today, sending shockwaves through the popular tourist destination.
Witnesses reported that the occupants of a semi-rigid boat abandoned the victim by a fuel station before fleeing the scene at high speed. Initial reports suggest that the vessel may have been a drug boat, equipped with four powerful engines, although the Civil Guard has not yet confirmed this information.
Emergency services pronounced the man dead at the scene. He is believed to be around 30 years old, but his identity remains unknown. Conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances of his death. Some sources claim he was thrown into the sea near the filling station before being retrieved from the water.
Police sources indicated that there were no visible signs of physical assault on the victim. Footage shared online showed a significant police presence, with several National Police and Civil Guard vehicles stationed alongside the yachts in the port, as well as an ambulance.
The victim's body has been transported to Malaga’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the incident may be linked to a drugs-related feud, given the history of violence in the area.
Puerto Banus has seen a rise in shootings and violent incidents in recent years, prompting extensive police operations during the busy summer season. Local residents have expressed concerns about the area becoming increasingly lawless, likening it to the ‘Wild West’.
In a notable incident last June, Manchester City footballer Erling Haaland was involved in a police raid at the Playa Padre beach club in Marbella, which resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man. This incident highlights ongoing issues with crime in the luxury marina and its surroundings.
