Election Day in Lyon County is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Although advance voting began on Oct. 15, as of Nov. 3 at 10:00 a.m., only 581 in-person votes had been cast out of over 20,000 registered voters in the area, according to Amie Jones, Lyon County clerk and election officer.

Jones said that although it’s hard to compare advance turnout to past elections — most of which featured a special question — the early returns have been slow at a time when registration and voting are easier than ever in the county.

“It’s usually pretty slow, but I don’t know that we’ve ever been this slow before,” Jones said. “It’s been a while since our city and school elections haven't had a special question on it.”
