SEDONA, Ariz. — A husband and wife survived a crash landing near Sedona after their aircraft landed on the side of a mountain.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said Monday that deputies were dispatched at about 8:30 a.m. to reports of a plane crash near Cathedral Rock in Sedona.

Deputies learned the plane's two occupants were able to walk away unharmed after they successfully deployed a parachute for the entire aircraft. YCSO said this parachute helped the plane land on the mountain.

A search and rescue team is in the process of hiking toward the downed plane.
