STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police officers investigating reports about an “unlicensed aircraft” and an individual “parachuting” off of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge arrested a man in a park in his Brooklyn community on Sunday, the NYPD said.
The man was allegedly hang-gliding from the span , according to a report in the Daily News.
Jonathan Warren of Hancock Street was apprehended by the Emergency Service Unit at Calvert Vaux Park in Brooklyn and charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
The police statement said that on Sunday at just before 5 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of an “unlicensed aircraft” in the vicinity of the park bordered roughly by Gravesend Bay, Shore Parkway, Bay 44th Stree
