LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Monday she will deploy approximately 100 Arkansas Army National Guard soldiers to Washington, D.C., to support ongoing civil security operations.
The soldiers, who are with the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, will assemble at Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Barling in the coming weeks for processing, screening and training.
They will deploy to the National Capital Region for several months following Thanksgiving.
During the federally funded mission, the soldiers will conduct “security presence patrols and provide law enforcement support in designated areas.”
